This week, we’re nearing completion on a farmhouse project near Loddiswell, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s been a rewarding job, blending traditional craftsmanship with the character of the local landscape. Every project we take on is an opportunity to showcase the skill and dedication that go into quality bricklaying and stonework, and this farmhouse has been no exception.

A key part of the project has been carefully selecting and loading stone by hand from our yard, ensuring we use only the finest pieces. These stones, sourced locally through our trusted contacts, add authenticity and charm to the build. There’s something special about working with materials that are true to Devon’s heritage—stone that has been shaped by time and now finds new life in a carefully crafted home.
One of the standout features of this build has been the two brick castellated corners, designed to give the farmhouse a timeless, heritage-inspired appearance. This style is a nod to traditional craftsmanship, reinforcing the character of the property while providing a striking visual element. To achieve the best possible result, we’ve been working closely with Russell from Plymouth, an experienced local stone mason. He and our own Ashley have been braving the cold, starting work early in the misty Devon mornings, making the most of the sunshine as it thaws the frost-covered fields. These moments—watching the landscape wake up as the day’s work begins—remind us why we love what we do.
